What amount of money would make you feel rich? Probe that a bit. For many, especially those who don’t have much, being rich is a throbbing undertone for a deliverance from worry. A relative once told me that his company will probably make it big, and when it does, then he’d be “set.” In that sentiment, he’s trying to capture freedom, put it in a mold protected by dollars, and voilà, all set – instant freedom. If only it were that simple.
Do the wealthy feel untethered by fear, never worried that their fortune would wither? I’m sure the wealthy are every bit as poor as the poor. Poverty isn’t about money, not in the West anyway. We’re impoverished in thought. We’re impoverished because we think there is no time; because we think there is no safety; because we think there is no talent; or because we think there is no way forward or that ideas don’t come because we’re not “creative.” We’re impoverished because we do not believe in ourselves, that humanity can rise above the fear and realize that Source is moving through each person. Source is the abundance of infinite truth that resides in each human being.
When you long for money, you are longing for freedom. Money doesn’t contain freedom. Do you see the conundrum? – containing freedom. Putting freedom into a container, a bank account, that’s what the wealthy are trying to do. Freedom cannot be contained in physical form. On the contrary, freedom is free – it’s spiritual, invisible, infinite. It’s a letting go, an openness, and a receptivity that sets you free. It’s trust that sets you free. It is releasing the thoughts that freedom is containable in physical form. It’s Truth within that sets you free. It’s in the unseen realm, and it never runs out. You are the Source of limitlessness, bound by no condition, and you are free. Can’t you see this truth?
