Just let it go, drop it! I wish I could tell you that it was that easy to just STOP. But do you see the bind that creates? Wanting to stop something creates another kind of tension in the body. Trying to let go is the same as holding on to a new kind of desire.
The Great Symphony of time has already been composed and the speed is set. The universe’s songs are playing and they are just playing themselves out. Simply pay attention to the song. You hear people say “allow” the present moment to be as it is. Doesn’t that sound nice? But allowance often implies unwillingness. You have no will. Effort is futile. The present moment is going to do what it wants with or without your so-called allowance. My advice is to focus and to melt into what’s happening. Lose the pretense of control by absorbing into your surroundings.
The only way I know how to deal with tension is to focus on where it occurs in the body, usually right in the gut. Sit with that tension by breathing and watching your inner body relax. You can try that now. You can read these words more slowly and deliberately. You can pause more in between sentences. You can feel the gravity pulling on your body, and you can savor the present moment by melting into the reading. When experience and mental bandwidth are unified, no words are spoken in the mind, and the inner body is soft and supple, you are in a “let go” state. The universe is singing and you cannot stop it, alter it, speed it up or slow it down. Letting go doesn’t mean to drop it or stop it; it means to focus and fall into the present more more deeply and more fully.
