A friend was telling me about the possibility of a move. It seemed as though his job was deteriorating. Leadership was changing, business was slow, and things looked murky. He considered leads, one in Canada. But then in looking at the circumstances, things seemed complex and laden with hurdles. There was no clear path forward. That’s because the red light was on, not the green one.
When things seem murky, and you’re not sure what to do, moving forward will feel like a clandestine action. It will feel illicit, not right. Don’t manufacture what’s not there. And conversely if it’s there, GO.
When it’s time, you will know. It will be clear in circumstance and clear in heart. The head might be a bit blurry about the ends and outs, but if the all clear comes from deep within, you will move with ease and excitement. I have a few major things in my life that I’m not clear about at the moment, but I’m not taking action until the need for action is much more apparent. Taking action with a clashing heart will lead to a clash in circumstance.
Sometimes, do nothing. I’m not speaking about procrastination. Procrastination is knowing an action is to be taken, having a green light, but keeping your foot on the brake – wham! Someone is going to hit you from behind. You may be sensing a change. You may be uncomfortable with the seeming lack of supply. You may be concerned that circumstances are deteriorating, but don’t go until the light is green. Timing is everything. Some have a red light and are trying to move forward. Some have a green light and hold steadfast on the brake. Pay attention. Is it time to go or stay put? Get in tune with the traffic signal. It knows.
