In the book of Genesis, the creation story is told in human terms. God said, “Let there be light.” What language did he use? Did he say it out loud with his vocal cords? Did he think it in his mind? I could go on an on about the pitfalls of personifying God, but it will get us nowhere. The point is, we are creative. We think of something, and we see to it that it gets done. The very process of living is creative.
Everything about you is creative. Don’t think for a minute you’re not. The very thought of being “non-creative” is creative. You created that mental construct about yourself. Let’s examine just how creative you really are, even in processes you don’t think about.
The heart is creating the center of the circulation system which is creating important antibodies, blood cells, and removing toxins from the blood. Breathing is creating nourishment in the body and creating carbon dioxide for the plants. Your personality is creative. In the way you express yourself we identify you, and it creates warm fuzzy feelings to those who know and love you. Your sense of humor is creative. Your jokes create a sense of levity, help create yummy brain chemicals that lift you up and make you feel good. Moving is creative. You think of moving. It creates electrical impulses to the muscles, creates lubrication for joints, and creates a healthy body. Do I need to go on, or do you realize how creative you are? There is nothing about you that’s not creative. You are creative because you are creation in action. What an amazing thing to know. Being creative may be more than you think it is. Perhaps you could put that creativity to better use rather than sitting around thinking you’re not creative.
