Why me? That’s as senseless as asking, “Why is there a moon?” A scientist would tell you all sorts of reasons why the moon exists; but defining what it does doesn’t say why it exists. According to NASA “the moon makes Earth a more livable planet by moderating our home planet’s wobble on its axis, leading to a relatively stable climate.” The moon is also helpful in regulating the tides and helping night creatures feel their way around. And I guess, it’s also just really cool.
The role the moon plays doesn’t tell me why there is a moon. The earth couldn’t function without it. It’s all one, big integral part of the whole. So why is there a you? For the same nonsensical reasons!
Who’s to say you’re not as integral as the moon, but have no “reason” to be here? The moon plays its part because it has to. You are playing your part because you have to. Don’t ask why, just play your part. Go through your waxing and your waning. Revolve around, do your job, and be your assigned role. Don’t ask questions, like “why me?” You want to be a worm instead? Be like the moon, who doesn’t wonder about such nonsense. The moon is here to play its part, and when its role is over, it will take a bow and explode – lights out. I don’t know why you were given the costume you have; the drama you have; the situation you have; or the personality you have. Just play your part like a champ. The moon is doing a great job at being the moon without an existential crisis of wondering why it is here, or why it was assigned its role. It just “moons.” Do your part and be yourself without all of this existential angst. “Why me?” Forget about it.
