The future is unknown. I strongly believe the unknown can be trusted, but you have to understand the nature of the universe. Either it’s highly structured, organized, and reliable, or it’s iffy. How do you view it? When you are frightened of the future, you view the universe as “foreign.” It’s a place that you live that has randomized forces, maybe even sinister ones that are trying to harm you. When you trust, you see no difference between yourself and the universe. It’s not a place you live, but an intelligence that is you, working through you, and is all around you. It’s highly structured, and working towards your highest good.
For those who feel like misfits, foreign creatures born into a world that depends on luck, the world is very scary. Would you place your life in the hands of a slot machine? Many people live with this kind of thinking. They believe the universe is randomized and essentially dumb.
The unknown is the reliable source. That’s not to say we cannot make plans. Chances are your plans will work out, but the unknown always has the final say. The unknown is the supreme authority. It’s what awakened you in this world and it’s what will put you back to sleep. The hour is unknown. The how is unknown. You are unknowable. How can that be scary – it seems to be the very substance that holds the universe together. We have to deduce that the universe is 100% trustworthy, but not 100% knowable. There is a difference. Your life is not a gamble, but a miracle. Face the unknown with complete surrender. All living things come under subjection of the unknown. The time has come to trust the unknown with certitude, and to be free from our gambling addiction.
