I think it’s important to remember something very true about emotions, especially those that don’t feel particularly pleasant. Unpleasant feelings, like fear, are as benign as a cloud in the sky. Emotions lift once you get going, and fully awake to the present moment. In the Now, it just always seems perfect. Getting lost in the past, or hung up in the future brings overcast.
Think of yourself as the sky, not the clouds. You beam clear and brightly. Emotions shade that temporarily. They are energy fields prompted by thought and tend to cover that brightness. They cannot damage, any more than clouds “damage” the sun. But you must allow them to dissolve. Dredging up the past keeps them in the way of your inner sun.
You are the vessel through which an emotion passes. Let it pass. Every person on the planet calls themselves “I.” This “I” is the blank space upon which life is projected, contained, and emitted. It’s what makes it all possible – clouds and sun; dark and light. It knows, experiences, and sees transversely, not only from one side. But the sun is always behind the clouds, and the sky is always letting them come and go. Grey skies clear up, and behind it is the universality of each and every “I,” living, experiencing, and being themselves. Climb higher into that collective “I.” Get closer to the light that shines behind each and everyone who uses that pronoun. All of us identify with that which we call ourselves, “I.” The “I” I use is the same “I” that you use, so we are all one. Expand your perception, and the clouds don’t seem to affect you that much. You are the sky, not the clouds. You are the “I” that knows itself in everyone.
