Reality doesn’t work like the imagination does. The imagination can conjure immediate results. The imagination sees results, reality can only see, in real-time, the process towards a result. The imagination can whip up a gratifying, instantaneous outcome. Reality can only reward you if you pay attention to whatever action is needed in the present moment. Too often, we don’t like how slowly reality unfolds, especially if the imagination is petulant. But there is an important link between action and learning. It’s called experience.
Experience is gained when one understands how to improve, how to grow with, and how to accept reality, when necessary. Experience is also learning how to take the imagined and transform it into the physical. Experience sprouts from what life teaches you, primarily through your experience of reality, not your concept of reality.
Reality is action-based, not thought-based. For example, no one ever gets better at piano if they don’t actually touch a piano. At your first piano lesson, you’ll put your fingers on the keys! No one learns how to fly a plane without sitting at the controls. Your first flying lesson will be in the left seat. Life cannot teach you a thing, unless you put forth effort into some activity. If you do nothing because you’re afraid or lazy, the universe will send you something to respond to, trust me! But too often, we dwell in concepts and fear-based thoughts, and rarely take the plunge into action. By adding bit-by-bit, tiny micro-actions however, you’ll build lasting results through focus on progress, not obsession on outcome. The mind will convince you that there is no point in taking that first action towards your desired result, but you know better than this. Trust your intuition – it knows more than your mind does. Your intuitive self is yearning for its ultimate teacher – experience. Cherish what experience you have already gained. Build upon the knowledge of experience and expand your possibilities each and everyday. Never fear taking action towards your goals, it’s the only way to learn and to grow. The best knowledge on the planet is aquired through experience, and it’s something you’ll value forever.
