What more could you ask for?

We all seem to want more, right? Nothing ever seems to be enough. We can’t make life fast enough – we just want to get it all, have it all, and then get some more. I think there are better ways of looking at “more.” What about more love? What about more hope? What about more giving, and laughing, and helping? What about more peace and calm in your life? What about more settling of mind, body and spirit – no more inner conflict? What about more nutrition and movement? What about more creativity?

There are ways of getting more, in the conventional sense, but there’s no real satisfaction in stockpiles. The key is to become a person of great strength and character; one who contributes; one who listens and cares. I hear things like this all the time: “If I had more time, then I would do so-and-so; If I had more money, then I would be able to do so-and-so.” Most people who wish for more and they get it, only squander it away. If they had more time, they’d waste it. If they had more money, they’d blow it in.

The true meaning of more is not in quantifiable math called “results.” You don’t need to lose more weight, you just need to be more health-minded. You don’t need more friends, you just need to be more friendly. You don’t need a partner, you just need to be more open, loving, and receptive. You don’t need more time, you just need to be more efficient with what you have. So what more could you ask for? You could ask to be more kind, more patient, more generous, and more agreeable. The only “more” you could ever want is to become more aware of yourself and to become more of who you were destined to become. The rest is just plain excess.
