Good ideas can change your life. But in order to get a good idea, you have to be a good channel for them. The most creative ideas come when you’re relaxed, joyful, free, and whimsical. Oftentimes the best ideas come right at the break of day, when the mind is fresh. Many creative people keep a pen and paper on their nightstand, jotting down fresh ideas in the morning. I write this blog mostly in the wee hours of the morning, as I have to be quiet and reflective before feeling inspired by the ideas that come to me. If there are no ideas, I don’t try to “make” myself write. I do something else relaxing like going for a walk, and in a matter of time a good idea comes to me.
If you’re always on the go, you’ll not have access to ideas. Bad habits develop if you are always busy and on the go. If you have a problem, there is an idea and a solution, if you give yourself a chance to open the mind, back down, and seek fresh perspective.
Panic mode shuts down the flow. Easy mode opens the flow. Great ideas come to the mind when you’re on the treadmill, or relaxing out on the back deck. Create an environment for good ideas by putting yourself into a state of easy relaxation. You might have a great idea for a weekend getaway for you and your partner. You might have a great idea on how you might improve your health, or relationships; to find a new job; move to a new place; or start an enterprise. The totality of possibility exists in a calm, relaxed state. In a panic state, everything closes. Open, relax, and submit yourself to the good ideas that want to flow into your life. Perhaps you’re blocking the flow with panic?
