With a spirit of openness, you have space for surprise, a cushion for challenge, and a grateful heart for the “goodies” that comes your way. But being receptive also creates space for compromise, when it’s necessary. The universe seems to favor receptivity, rather than desperation. When you’re desperate, you’ll stop at nothing to get what you think you want. Desperation feels like clutching and clamping down on life. When you clutch to something, or someone, it makes you feel like you cannot live without those things, or that person. Feeling like you cannot exist without this or that (or him or her) is a trigger for potential disaster. So today, release that sense of desperation, and watch what changes will come your way.
Receptivity requires a certain amount of vulnerability, or openness to life. Vulnerability is a willingness to admit uncertainty, and to be able to live comfortably within that uncertainness. The space of receptivity also allows you to endure challenging situations and to learn and grow from them. When you clutch desperately to things and/or people, you close off any space for growth, for change, or for surprises. We don’t like challenging surprises that pop up in life. But we always love good surprises. Good surprises are called called serendipity. When you try to protect yourself from unwanted surprise, you also prevent the good surprises from coming your way.
Today, examine where you might be closing doors to the goodness that life is wanting to offer to you. Remember to be open to all. The universe tends to prefer us to be in a position of receptivity, no matter what the condition. It tends to reward us when we are open to, and willing to accept everything. So be receptive today. Be receptive to everything and anything! When you open your heart, it leaves space to watch, with wonder, the good things unfold in your life. And it helps you absorb the challenges that comes up from time to time. But the more receptive you become, the more life rewards you with good surprises that always seem to exceed your expectations. So today, open you heart, open your mind, and open your palms to receive the goodness that’s rightfully yours, in the fullness of time.
