There are two dimensions in the universe, stuff and no-stuff. It’s binary, on and off. Most people in this world are totally consumed in the dimension of stuff, when something is “on.” When life removes it, and turns it off, people suffer tremendously. But that’s happening everywhere. Birth and death – on and off. We’re too consumed with the “on” function, stuff.
Mindless consumerism, addiction, and excess are plaguing humanity. Health is in decline, both physical and mental, yet we keep piling on more stuff; more ways to consume and fill our eyes and ears with clutter. We have too much, and we’re in search of a constant stream of noise, perpetually being “on.”
Our biggest problem is that we erroneously believe that we cannot be without. We cannot be without food, without company, without social media, without comfort, or without an electronic device. So many amazing people have stepped outside of the stream and have come up with the wisest ways to real happiness and prosperity – Jesus, Buddha, Gandhi, and modern teachers like Eckhart Tolle, Depak Chopra, Michael Singer, Sadhguru, Wayne Dyer, Louise Hays, and so many more. For thousands of years we’ve had access to some of the wisest teachings that just fall on deaf ears and blind eyes. The masses continue filling their lives with stuff, leading to the rise in obesity, depression, addiction, and stress. Maybe it’s time to look into silence, nature, solitude and the wonderful inner world of being still, being “off.” Many people on the planet are awakening to this, but we have far to go. Inner joy, good ideas, and tranquility come from no stuff and nothing turned on. Life giveth and taketh away, and it’s trying to get your attention when something gets snatched up. Perhaps there’s something to all of this no-stuff business.
