The first thing that hits me, when I go out into nature, is its perpetual serenity. Yes, there are storms and extremes from time to time, but mostly those things are but a flash of time. Nature isn’t “doing” anything, by and large. It’s being done, and it’s just perfectly synchronized. The second thing I notice, particularly with trees and plants, is how flexible they are. The winds move, sometimes aggressively, yet the vegetation bends and twists as it needs to. Nothing is very rigid in nature. It reminds me not only to limber my body, by stretching, but to also open and stretch my mind. The only time you see stiffness is in death, when rigor mortis sets in.
The third thing about nature is how bountiful it is. It’s a feast for the senses. The optical wonders of color, texture and light; the fragrances of flowers and grass; the harmony of limbs, leaves, and branches; and the sensations of wind, humidity, and temperature. Nature literally surrounds you, embraces you with love that it’s hard to even begin to take it all in. That’s why it’s important to commune with it often.
The other thing about nature is, well, how “natural” it is. We spend way too much time surrounded by and consuming unnatural things – man-made structures, processed foods, concrete jungles, and we even drape our bodies in synthetic fibers. Unclothe yourself, go to the beach, and let the sunlight and the breeze touch your bare skin. Just a few minutes is all it takes. Walk on the grass barefooted, or the sand, bask in the moonlight, or sit by the ocean. Everything in nature is in divine order, has perfect timing, and is beaming with prosperity and peace. Here’s the last thing. You are nature. You embody all of these wonderful properties. Connect, learn from nature, and sense this awesome wonder within you.
