Accomplishments add up, but most of the work comes from the inside. As each day unfolds, therein lies a small opportunity, but often hidden in the unseen realm. Remember, progress begins with effort. Effort begins with an “I,” for the internal I AM. First, examine what life has given you. Then, make the most out of it, even if it’s not something seen. Here’s the key – the majority of the time, the only “things” you have to work with are your attention, your attitude, and your mindset. Those inner-engineering “targets” are what get you results, externally.
Diligence, steadfastness, cooperation, positivity – yep, they count too. Notice how far you’ve come in the last few years. It’s your inner efforts that got you there. Outward evidence are effects of inward efforts. Most of the time, slow and steady is how people grow, inwardly. This works outwardly too. People making modest sums of money have built tremendous wealth with the “slow and steady” formula. However, if you want slow-and-steady to accelerate (externally), the secret is to focus inwardly more consistently.
Overcoming addictions is about overcoming the demons in the head and cravings in the body – inner work. Saving money is about overcoming compulsions to spend – inner work. Building solid relationships is about how you act – an inner focus on love. Learning a new skill is about focusing and directing one’s attention, also an internal practice. What is seen, is derived from the work that is unseen, the “results” of personal development. What you’re doing externally, is not more important than who you’re becoming, internally. Don’t forget, personal achievement (the kind of person you’re becoming) is a huge part of your overall success! I think that’s what counts the most, anyway. What you cannot see (inner work), will eventually yield an outward flow. You’ll see.
