A coin, like reality, always has two sides. Otherwise, it’s just a fantasy. That’s why people can’t seem to satisfy themselves. They are searching for the pleasures of a fantasy by trying to find it in reality, but reality is flawed, so to speak. Searching for satisfaction in the perfect job, the perfect house, the perfect argument, the perfect lover, the perfect vacation, all have one thing in common, they break apart the minute they materialize. And as they break apart, an unsatisfying “imperfection” will arise. Even the so-called best has a sliver of room for improvement. Enough is never enough. Why? For you to even know what enough is, there has to remain room for more. Many people are on an endless quest to fill the remaining “more” in the implications of the word, “enough.”
From concept to reality, the flip side is attached to all forms. You are part form (human) and part formlessness (being). There are obligations to both, neither one getting to have it all. The wise can traverse and accept what seems like a duality of being and personhood. Don’t pin your hopes on a fantasy, which contains only one side, the so-called perfectly satisfying, “good” one.
There has to always be room for emptiness for you to even know what fullness is! Don’t lose yourself and identify too strongly with physicality, but don’t toss it away either. The physical doesn’t contain the fullness that you’re in search of, but that doesn’t mean you cannot enjoy it nor appreciate it. Be in balance, observe wholeness, and always accept and appreciate the necessity of the flip side. A so-called imperfect world really is as good as it gets.
