A good passenger trusts that the captain and the crew know exactly where they’re going, how and when to get there, and what the best route is. Trust that your ship is getting you there. When you’re docked in port, there’s lots of new things to see and to explore. Those new discoveries are amazing. But once you make those discoveries, let them lead you to the next waypoint.
Your life’s cruise is really an adventure, one port leading you to another. At each stop you’ll meet amazing people who will help guide your ship to the next point of arrival. But those are waypoints, markers which lead you to the next stop. Most of life is spent in-between those markers. The secret is that when the visit’s over at a particular destination, don’t overstay your welcome. Hear the horn blowing, and be ready to hop on board as the ship prepares to leave the dock.
No-one gets to stay forever, and no-one gets to go back to their past destinations. There’s just too much to explore on your future itinerary. If you hit rough waters, don’t worry. The captain and crew can navigate right through them, just be trusting, like you do when you hop on an airplane. Don’t meddle, they know how to get you there, let them take you the long way, if necessary. If the longest route is the smoothest, then you’ll enjoy the ride. The shortest route is likely to be tumultuous and leave you exhausted and weary. So go with smooth sailing, it’s easier and it’s more fun. The smoother route, although often longer, will leave you feeling refreshed and energized when you finally arrive. But don’t forget to recognize the waypoints – there will be treasure waiting for your exploration. Once you find it, let it lead you to the next port when the ship’s ready to sail again.
