Do you find people to be apathetic, incapable, dull, or standoffish? Or are they useful, interesting, wonderful, and adventuresome? If you find off-putting, amalgamating characteristics in people, it’s just a sign that you have discovered those energies within yourself. If you need new people, to feel a sense of belonging, or to find your tribe, then take a closer look at yourself as a point of departure. What are you doing to attract who is in your life?
People are mirrors, what you see in them is a guidepost into your own self-learning. Your view of people is both a window into your soul, and a lesson into what kinds of energies you give out to the world. Like all things, you have to choose what you want to see in people, and if you are always seeing their worst, then that’s what they are seeing in you. I know that’s a hard truth, but looking at yourself in the mirror is hard, but the only way to forge improvement.
People can challenge you. They force you to look closely at yourself because that’s the only place to turn. It’s far too easy to blame people, but it’s so difficult to look inward and to reverse engineer how you attracted the wrong kinds of people in the first place. Ask your most trusted friends what qualities you exude in general, and they’ll be brutally honest with you, if you want to hear it. Think of all the people in your life, take an average of their most difficult qualities, and you’ll learn something about yourself. People are in your life to teach you how to extract the best of yourself, but many times, you have to take a good look at your worst. Grow into who you were meant to be, the people in your life are showing you the way.
