Build value, and reward follows.

If you value something, it will motivate you to take care of it. What you value, you protect and stand behind because it’s precious. Who you are, fundamentally, what you do for yourself, and what you do for others, are valuable.

If you don’t value anything, you won’t have motivation to grow it, to care for it, and to protect it. If you don’t value anything, everything is waste. If you don’t value your health, you won’t make good choices on diet and exercise. If you don’t value your intelligence, you’ll never put in the time to learn and develop new skills. If you don’t value others, you won’t be included. If you don’t value the planet, you won’t care about what wasteful things you leave behind.

Reflect on what you value about yourself, your life, and the opportunities that have come to you. This is called a value system. If you value being a better person, get to work on your own personal development. If you value your health, get moving and making better choices with diet. Don’t wait for a life-threatening health scare before you have to make lifestyle changes; don’t wait for time to vanish before you take action on your valuable ideas; don’t wait for loss before you value who is important in your life. Take time to value what’s precious, and devote attention to what’s been entrusted to your care. Value the skills, opportunities, people, and resources that have been given to you, thus far in your life, and eventually, more will come.
