The miraculous is the norm; the mundane is the exception.

Too often we dismiss precious happenings in life as flukes, weird, extraordinary, or random. Existence itself is an extraordinary phenomenon, but our limited minds make life seem ordinary, dull, mundane. But the miraculous is all around. In other words, it’s the miraculous, the flukes, the “luck” that’s ordinary – it’s just waiting for you to notice. Ordinary, as we’ve come to know it, is simply living unaware of how to respond to the miraculous needs, opportunities, and surprises that are everywhere.

In everything that you can do, there is a miracle that you can sense – your ability to hear, to touch, to smell, to see, to think creatively, to respond compassionately, to be aware, etc. Those abilities are not mundane; therefore, you are not mundane. Today is not normal either, no day is normal. Many people did not wake up this morning, and you were one of the “lucky” ones who get to be here one more day.

Your ability to learn is amazing. Your ability to respond, even more miraculous. If you see an injustice, respond. If you see a need, respond. If you see an opportunity, respond. You’re reading these words for a reason. But that’s how the miraculous shows up in your life – through “everyday” occurrences. There are miraculous things in your life that will prompt an action. It’s just time to pay attention, and to give homage to the normalcy of the extraordinary world we live in. Open the door to the miraculous, and the miraculous will open a door for you! Respond where there is a need. Act upon a serendipitous moment. This is how to have an extraordinary life – to recognize a miracle in yourself, see it everywhere, in everyone, and through everyday experiences. Then, go where that trail leads you and respond with love, kindness, compassion and gratitude.
