Step 456 is too far. Just the next step, please.

Many people cringe when they think of having to start from scratch, but new beginnings can be so invigorating. There’s no reason to fear starting over, starting fresh, beginning with nothing but a blank page. As a matter of fact, a blank page is clean, and clean feels good. It sets you free from the past.

It’s easy to get discouraged with how long it takes, or how much it takes, but don’t get deterred by how the details stack up – just focus on step one. It might collapse, but you can start over. What’s nice about rebuilding is that you get to figure out the right way, your way. Start with step one, lay the first brick. Most of us know deep down inside what the first step is, but too often we get overwhelmed with anticipating some future steps, like step 456. But remember, when step 456 comes, it will simply be the next one in the series that’s unfolding. If step one works, then move on to step two. Always remember that you can go back to start, if something doesn’t work.

We are all capable of doing extraordinary things, but those extraordinary things are done in chronological layers, and they begin with step one, then step two, and so on. Develop your skills and understanding with each new step. Start over if necessary, but don’t allow the worry of future steps make you give up on your goals. Step 456 is a long way away from step one. When it’s time for action, find success in your initial, grassroots effort. From there go on to the next step, and then the next. Eventually you’ll get out of the grass, off of the ground, and into the sky. Once you’re there, you’ll begin to see more of the big picture as you soar even higher than the 456th step!
