The friction in between perception and experience. Ease up.

Wednesday, February 23, 2022

In between your experience and your perception lies friction. In between your experience and your perception lies a certain amount of seriousness. In between your experience and your perception lies a certain amount of resistance or unwillingness. When you ease up on the friction, you’re in flow, and things get done, effortlessly. When you ease up on the seriousness, by being more playful, things get more enjoyable, and you can focus more freely. When you ease up on the resistance and become more willing, good things arrive, like help and serendipitous opportunity. But above all, when your negative perception is uncoupled from your experience, you make room for joy.

Life is not as serious, arduous, demanding, or as much of a struggle as you think it is. The struggle is manufactured. You create struggle by placing judgement on everything. When you sense friction in your life, it’s only because you’re too close to it all. You’re too identified with everything, caught up in how “important” it all seems. Yes, at some level life is precious, but not more precious than your peace of mind and well-being. Life is not so serious that it makes you feel overburdened, heavy, and imprisoned. Those are products of overly identified perception.

Back up, back down, and retreat from a posture of defensiveness. Detach from those thoughts that an event, a task, or a particular outcome is so important that you’re on pins and needles. The struggle will go with you, to your grave, so let it go before you arrive at the cemetery. Nothing can overtake the significance of a smile. Nothing can overtake the significance of joyfulness. Nothing can overtake the magic of feeling blissful, kind, happy, fun, hopeful, and peaceful. Absolutely nothing takes priority over these states of being. Your priority is wellness. All of that friction is simply unnecessary. Release it today.
