It takes some time and some real thought for the imagination to spin up enough momentum to manifest a desire into a result. But too often, people don’t apply their imaginations in ways that create results. They either don’t know what they want, they go after things they never truly desired, or they get discouraged too easily.
Getting in touch with desire requires exploration. Exploration is paying close attention to your own curiosity. Children and cats naturally explore their world, they move towards the natural inklings within them to see what’s “out there.” If you’re an explorer, you’re trying to sense the warmth of what draws you in. If it’s warm, that’s a good sign, give it a little more kindling, and see if it starts to smolder. The kindling is your imagination, an intentional clarification that builds upon the spark of desire. The imagination adds more dimension, more depth, and more detail to a dream. In other words, start off general, then get more specific as the spark intensifies. The imagination won’t do this on its own, the dream needs you to continue to add dimension to it as it grows, in order for it to gain momentum.
If there’s a hunch, there might a spark, and if it’s warm, start clarifying how it is to look, in your imagination. Then step back to see if the embers begin to glow. Don’t get discouraged if it doesn’t blaze right away – you just might need a little kindling, some air, some space, and a little patience to turn the spark into an inferno. The main fuel source of your dream is the amount of enthusiasm you apply to it. Discouragement will douse a spark so fast, that it may be impossible to relight. Desire is the spark, enthusiasm is the fuel, and when you see the dream transform into reality, the fire spreads. Be patient, if you rush it, or if you lose your enthusiasm too quickly, you’ll blow out the spark before it has a chance to really catch afire.
