Ready and willing to serve

30 November 2020

The universe gives you exactly what you want in life. It is often hard to recognize, but if you take a moment to examine your life, you will see how much of it is a direct result of your choices and behaviors. I lived for years unaware of what I was “asking for” in my life. The way I treated myself, how I treated others, and the amount of time I wasted on trivial things was all being “observed” by the universe. Louise Hey always said that it’s almost like the universe is constantly listening to you. And this includes your behaviors, your thoughts, and your attitudes. Everything about who you are and how you interact with the world attracts what you see in your life – everything.

The universe gives you a blank slate when you enter adulthood. Yet many of us are unaware of what to do with that blank page – the so called “story of your life.” But the story of you is one that is authored by no-one other than yourself. You have held the pen of your life’s story since before you could even remember. Yet often we don’t realize the awesome power of the creative authority entrusted to us by the universe. Conversely many people choose not to “write” anything. They allow life to just happen to them. While there are instances where life often throws us curveballs, most of it is a direct result of how we use our time, of how we behave, and of how we handle the ups and downs of circumstance. How you handle the “facts of life,” is up to you. If you fight with, or become irritable with those facts, you continue to attract more reasons to be frustrated and bitter.

Today is a good day to stop asking the universe for help. Instead, ask the universe how you can help others and how you can help yourself! Loosen the grip on your own selfish will and helplessness. Turn it around to simply becoming more willing and helpful. Become more eager to write a better story about yourself, not as the victim but as the victor. Look not at what you have or what you have accomplished, but look at who you’ve become – more mature, more wise, more helpful. That’s the benefit of being willing. Become more willing to respond peacefully to life’s challenges. Willingness frees you from the trappings of compulsive and destructive behavior. Willingness makes you supple and receptive. It quiets your ego, your selfish cravings. Today is a great day to stop seeking to achieve, but to seek to serve. When the universe responds with an opportunity to give – meet that need. You will discover that this is a greater purpose in your life, and one that brings true fulfillment and satisfaction.
