When everything and everyone around you has to be thus and such for you to feel happy, or to be energized, you’re clinging to conditions of circumstance. A clingy person feels desperate. A clingy person fears that things won’t go their way. They “need” to be invited to the party; to know everything about where their partner is and what they’re feeling and thinking; or to be included in everyone else’s plan. A clingy person also needs attention by pleasing others. If someone doesn’t say “thank you,” or react to your generosity or affection in a certain way, you’re let down, you’re disappointed that they didn’t react as you expected them to.
Instead of expecting a particular outcome, why not allow freewill to roam where it pleases? External conditions often have a “mind” of their own. And those conditions don’t have to always be about you. If others are constantly disappointing you, why have you placed your wellness on the conditions of their behavior anyway?
Disappointment manifests itself after control and manipulation fail to work in your favor. When you expect things to work out as they need to, rather than how you think you need them to, you can release yourself from the trap of disappointment. You cannot control the external world, so don’t cling to the notion that you have power over it. You can only control your reaction to the external world. When you stop clinging, you’ll ironically become more like a magnet, more attractive to better circumstances and better people. Remember, being clingy is not attractive – it’s a repellent! People don’t love you because of how you expect them to behave. They love you because you allow them to be themselves. Circumstances are the same – if you love how the universe prepares it for you, the universe will keep giving you what you desire. You’re a grateful receiver, rather than a control freak.
If you want to attract abundance, you have to allow it in. The universe knows what it’s doing, so put your trust in how everything unfolds, on its own time and in its own way. Everything that needs to come your way will arrive just at the right time. Rather than clinging to your feeble expectation of particular circumstances and expected behavior of others, trust in freewill, divine intelligence, and in perfect timing, and you’ll never be disappointed again.
