Today is an opportunity to notice reality. Real is being alive, that’s about it. Real is not a dream or a concept. Real is not what the future holds. Real is noticing what the present moment contains. We all know the expression, “Pinch me, I must be dreaming.” Sometimes we need a reminder that we aren’t dreaming! A splash of cold water or a slap in the face, all intended to ground you, to bind you to the truth of what’s happening, now. If you’re upset about what happened to you yesterday, or you’re anxious about tomorrow, you need authentication, and today is a perfect opportunity to snap out of it! When you snap out of it, you’ll settle down.
As you mature, you become more interested in exactly what you’re doing when it’s occurring, and you learn to trust it. Attentiveness improves everything – your posture, your listening skills, your ability to learn, your ability to get things done, your ability to get in touch with your emotions, and on and on. The present moment contains the truth of who you are – the future and the past contain thoughts about them and rob you of your attention span.
When you become one with the present moment, fully aware and totally absorbed, you are truly yourself. You’re not pretending, how could you be, you’re too focused on the now! You’re purely aware, fully authentic, and truly yourself when you focus. It’s not possible to be fake, when you focus on what you’re doing in the present moment. Authenticate who you are as much as possible today. When you leave the earth with obsessive thought and worry, come right back down to the tiniest detail. Don’t disturb yourself with all of your worry and mental ramblings. Slice time into smaller segments; get in touch with every emotion; and observe when the mind finally settles down. All of this is possible with a bit more awareness of the contents of now. Don’t interrupt the purity of your consciousness today. It’s really all there is to being more fully alive and truly yourself!
