Passionate desire indicates it’s here, now.

The moment you want it, it’s yours. It may not be instantaneous in the physical, but in the inner, a passionate desire is as good as done. These kinds of desires stick. I’m not talking about a passing thought, “That would be nice to have or do.” I’m talking about a passion for creation.

Everything I was passionate about came true. When I was looking for my dream job, I made one up in my desire. I wanted to be the Director of Choral Studies and University Organist in some institution of higher learning. One graduate professor told me there were no jobs that would match my credentials, and if there were, it would be too competitive. Another told me I didn’t have the right “pedigree” for one or the other (choral or organ) and I’d end up in church music as a full-time profession.

I found an ideal job. Actually, I created it. I wanted it enough that it paved the way. In 2011, I was named Director of Choral Studies and University Organist at a school in Florida. I conducted choirs and taught and performed on the organ. It was specifically what I desired. One of my graduate professors is still in shock over that. Now that I’ve retired from that position, it was converted to just a choral job. So, I was the one and only choral director/organist the school ever had or perhaps will ever have.

Your desire will move mountains and create valleys if you’re passionate. Don’t listen to the naysayers, or even bother with the so-called evidence. Nobody has a clue, except you the one desiring. Keep the enthusiasm. When you have a passionate desire, it means it has already begun moving from your heart into the physical.
