Your awareness is the gateway to everything – good, bad, ugly, and indifferent. As you go about your day, what you see, touch, hear, smell and taste will be converted, digested if you will, into an inner experience. You will \u201ctake in\u201d your whole day. How are you letting reality in, conditionally? When it\u2019s something you like, you\u2019re happy and when it\u2019s something you dislike, you\u2019re unhappy. But is reality itself conditional? Or are you placing conditions on reality? Mostly, it\u2019s the latter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Reality doesn\u2019t have dominion over you. Reality is not conditional. It just is. Your inner realm may wobble a bit when bad things happen, but ultimately you control that space. You can perceive reality more judiciously, more majestically, more respectfully, like a wise guru – you don\u2019t have to be critical, harsh, and fearful. Those are choices. The dominion that you control is that space where outer is perceived by inner. The question is, \u201cHow will you let it in today?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Try taking no sides, rather than trying to take no prisoners. Be like Switzerland, politically neutral, but also gorgeous and amazing. Don\u2019t let reality knock you off of your perch, to suck you into petty squabbles and thoughts that don\u2019t mean much. Stay on your perch, hold your rod like wise council, and perceive neutrally, peaceably, and without waivering. Unshackle yourself from the outer conditions that you place on reality.
